"Good News Everyone!!!!"

In early January just after our saurfang kill, the plagueworks opened - it is the 2nd wing of Icecrown citadel and after even a short while in there we realised that it was a pretty huge step up in difficulty for us, hence the comment earlier about our ready to raid stats being too low :)  If it gets more difficult from here then Icecrown may well prove a real challenge for us.

However after several weeks of trying since it opened we finally managed to kill Rotface this week. Our kill came after what seemed like countless dozens of attempts where we either had poor DPS or mistakes kiting oozes and avoiding poison missiles. Over the course of a few weeks we must have taken 50-60 players to this encounter which does not make it any easier, as experience of what to do with an ooze is pretty invaluable. It also requires that we take very switched on healers, good DPS  and a tank that can kite.

This fight saw our raid performance jump up another step, and as a whole our raid teams are getting more and more used to being put under pressure by huge amounts of dmg to heal, complex co-ordination and the need for high DPS. For a group like ours that has never done hard mode content before in a serious way this kill was probably one of our finest ever.

Lower Spire Cleared

Icecrown Citadel the final raid of the wrath of the Lich King expansion opened in early december and we approached things in asga with a new level of ready to raid stats. This forced many people to increase their gear levels and performance for the challenges that we assumed lie ahead. It turns out that this was a good thing, and if anything we have set the stats required for 25 man icecrown raiding a little low.

In the first couple of weeks we managed kills of both Marrowgar and Deathwhisper, although the later took a huge change in focus from players to increase our DPS and overall perfromance to the level needed to kill a boss like deathwhisper. We went from barely getting her shield to 50% to killing the boss in 2 days. The first deathwhisper kill actually included a monumental 2 minute burn down of her 13M+ hp and beating her just after enrage, after it took 8 minutes to destroy her shield.

Bone Stoooooooooooorm

Lord Marrowgar - 14th December

Yak Yak Yak Yak Yak - STFU and die

Lady Deathwhisper - 15th Dec

We had some dificulty with reduced days to raid over christmas and this caused us to only get as far as deathwhisper a couple of weeks in a row (pre-nerf she proved hard for us to kill, now shes straightforward like on 10 man). This meant we had no time to look at the Gunship Battle which rumour had it was both fun and easy, we had a couple of pulls at most to try and figure things out and as a result we didnt get too far.

Eventually the holidays were over and on new years day we went back in to begin some proper progress, within a couple of days we had beaten the gunship battle and worked out Deathbringer Saurfang. Eventually we settled on a startegy where people were paired up and the ranged DPS simply nuked the nearest blood beast and then switched to help on others nearby. The startegy worked like a charm and we got the kill to clear the lower spire before the plagueworks opened.

Cowardly fools you blind sided us

10 Man Yogg Saron Defeated

We dont often report on 10 man stuff apart from the more important kills, however this one I think went largely un-noticed, and very few people will know that we have killed Yogg Saron at all in ASGA. Back in the autumn a few of us were going into Ulduar 10 man a lot at the weekends and trying to pick up some hard mode kills and also we worked a bit on Yogg Saron.

We finally managed to kill him (shortly after CotOO had managed it) - It really is a spectularly fun and varied fight and needs good co-ordination, but once you actually get around to learning it the huge complexity seems almost non-existant. Its a case of DPS, decurse and cleanse hard, move in the corect place etc just like any other boss.
